YouTube AI slop in 2026. Hide the official labels before you click.

YouTube already knows which videos are AI. They just do not always put that information where you can see it on the Home feed. This page explains the labels, the honest way to filter them, and what AI Slop Blocker actually does.

What YouTube labels mean

YouTube puts a small disclosure on videos it believes were made with generative AI. The wording varies:

  • Made with AI. YouTube thinks generative tools produced meaningful parts of the video.
  • How this was made. A broader label that can include altered or synthetic content.
  • Sounds or visuals were altered or fully generated. The most specific version. Usually appears on the watch page, not the card.

The catch: Home, Search, and Related cards rarely show these labels. So you click, watch a few seconds, and only then see the disclosure. That is the slop pipeline.

Why official labels are the only honest signal

A lot of tools claim to detect AI by looking at thumbnails, voice, or pacing. That is guesswork dressed up as science. Thumbnails can be AI generated on an otherwise human video. A human video can use an AI voiceover. A fully synthetic video can look normal at first glance.

The only thing we know for certain is what YouTube itself discloses. If YouTube stamped the video, we hide the card. If YouTube did not, we leave it alone. No mystery model. No AI detecting AI.

How AI Slop Blocker works

1. The extension reads the disclosure YouTube already placed on the watch page.

2. It hides matching cards on Home, Search, and Related feeds on desktop www.youtube.com.

3. On the watch page, it adds a mint SLOP button next to the dislike button. Click it to block that video and channel locally and return to Home.

4. Optional shared submissions send only a YouTube video ID and channel ID. Off by default. No watch history. No personal tracking.

Honest limits

  • Unlabeled AI stays visible. If YouTube did not stamp it, we do not hide it.
  • Desktop www.youtube.com only. Not mobile. Not TV apps.
  • The Shorts shelf is not covered. We hide individual labeled cards where we can find them, not the whole shelf.

Name collision: another AI Slop Blocker exists
